He has also spent time instructing Tourism Courses at University and College, including cross-cultural tourism, tourism operations, tourism policy and planning and others. Andreas has a Bachelor's Degree in Tourism from Capilano University and a Masters in Resource and Environmental Management (Planning) from Simon Fraser University. His Masters Thesis researched the implications of the 2010 Winter Games on the governance of the Squamish and Lil'wat Nations, and how that has changed their relationship to other governments, especially the Resort Municipality of Whistler.

He enjoys skiing, white water rafting, paragliding and generally being active. He was a volunteer firefighter in Roberts Creek until his election and coaches Crossfit classes in Gibsons part-time.
